Overview

We are interested in measuring how a user's ISP affects the quality of their Internet connection (in terms of throughput and latency). Is one ISP always the best, do some ISPs offer better connections to particular destinations than other ISPs, or are all ISPs essentially the same?

How it Works

Our machines measure throughput and latency characteristics by periodically downloading content from a set of geographically diverse websites. This allows us to estimate the quality that a particular ISP provides to different parts of the Internet.

What We Need

We are looking for volunteers who live in an urban area to allow us to periodically measure their Internet connection. For more information on how we do this, please see the FAQ. To participate, please see the How to Help page, or the Download page.
