Michael Walfish
I recently graduated. Here is my dissertation.
Right now, I am a postdoc, working for "Professor" David Mazières
in Stanford's Computer
Science department. I used to be a graduate student studying Computer Science in the Networks and Mobile Systems Group (NMS) in
the Computer Science and Artificial
Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) at
MIT. My advisor was
Hari Balakrishnan.
Beginning in January, 2009, I will be an assistant professor in the Computer Science department at
the University of Texas at Austin.
Once at Texas, I will be looking for strong students, so
if you are interested in pursuing a PhD in Computer Science and are
excited by networked and distributed systems, please get in touch any
time.
Here is a (slightly-out-of-date) CV.
Research Projects
I have worked on (in reverse chronological order):
- speak-up
(also known as net-work),
a defense to a particular kind of distributed denial of service (DDoS)
attack
- DQE, an approach to spam control
- Delegation-Oriented Architecture
(DOA)
- Semantic-Free Referencing
(SFR)
